's-Hertogenbosch 1876 - 1953 Meerhout, Belgium.
Frans was above all a landscape painter. His paintings reveal the influence of the Barbizon School. He found his subjects in the Netherlands, especially in the Brabantse Kempen and in Belgium, France, Germany and Italy. The Gothic cathedral of Sint Jan in 's-Hertogenbosch was a source of inspiration for him and often a characteristic element in his landscapes.
Frans lived on the "Grote Hoeve" in Meerhout in the Belgian Campine. In beautiful surroundings which he very much liked to paint. His love for nature found him also involved in the establishment of the "Brabant Landscape Foundation".
