A FIXED AND A VARIOUS PRESENTATION

In addition to a fairly permanent exhibition of works by the eight painters from three generations of the Bossche family Slager, the museum also always pays attention to a special temporary exhibition in which a different artist is always central.
The more or less permanent exhibition of works by the family Slager is renewed every three years, so that a different theme of this versatile Bossche family of painters can always be discussed.

THREE GENERATIONS SLAGER

The visitor to the Museum Slager gets a fascinating insight in the cultural and social life in the Brabant capital from the second half of the 19 th.century to the end of the 20th.. Three generations of the artistic Slager family form the core of the collection.. From September 2017 the museum will , over a three-year period, organize a series of completely revised and varied display of works by the Slager family. To this aim.many paintings, drawings, etchings and contemporary artifacts used by them will be drawn from our depot. Many of these works have seldom been on show over the past years . Over and above, the museum shows loans and new acquisitions of paintings from the family..

THE ARTIST FAMILY

The father familias of the family of painters is Petrus Marinus (PM) Slager . His four children Piet, Frans, Jeannette and Corry follow in his footsteps. The two daughters-in-law Suze Velsen and Marie van Gilse join this family with their own works. WhileTom, the grandson of Petrus Marinus, represents the third generation.

WITH THANKS TO HEIN BERGÉ AND SUZE BERGÉ-SLAGER

The painters of this family played a major role in the development of the art of painting in Brabant. In particular during the first half of the twentieth century.
Thanks to the enormous dedication of Hein Bergé and Suze Bergé-Slager a large number of their works has been permanently brought together in "Museum Slager ". The extensive collection is managed by the P.M. Slager Foundation which has dedicated itself since 1968 to the collection of paintings, watercolours, pastels and drawings.
